Shoulders are made up of two main bones and are surrounded by a group of muscles and ligaments. The bones of the shoulders are connected by the ligaments and tendons connect the bones to the surrounding muscles. Shoulder injuries can occur due to everyday activities like washing, gardening, and hanging. Other reasons could be athletic activities like excessive exercise, swimming, tennis, weightlifting, etc.

Your arm or hand feels weak.

Fracture –

Shoulders get fractured when a bone breaks or cracks if you fall or hit hard. It involves clavicle, humerus, and scapula. There is a lot of pain and it may bruise.

Frozen shoulder –

In this condition, your shoulder is not able to move freely as the movement gets limited. This is due to the build-up of an abnormal band of tissues.

Bursitis –

In this case, fluid filled sac that cushions the joint gets swollen. It may be due to falling or another injury.

Dislocation –

A dislocation occurs when your shoulder is rotated abruptly or pulled too hard that the top of your arm might come out of its socket. The signs include swelling, numbness, and weakness in the shoulder.

Cartilage tear –

Your cartilage may hurt if you repeat the same motion again and again or if you fall or are hit hard. The pain which you feel may reach your head and your shoulder might feel weak.

Rotator cuff tear –

A rotator cuff is a group of muscles and tendons in your shoulder that keep your arm in place and let you lift it overhead. It may be damaged due to falling or overuse and a crackling sound may be heard if you move it.

Separation –

In this injury, the acromioclavicular joint (the point at which collarbone and shoulder blade come together) is affected. The ligament that holds it together with gets torn in this case.

Conclusion

Shoulder injuries can be treated by various exercises. Doctors may suggest some tests like MRI, CT Scan, X-Rays, etc. to diagnose the injury.
